Cottage Front Garden
CAPEL MANOR GARDENS | ENFIELD
A design concept for a double-fronted cottage in ‘Sunflower Street’ – one of several permanent show gardens set within 30-acre landscaped public gardens. The design combines both traditional and modern material solutions in response to front garden planning legislation, in particular, natural rainwater management and the environmental impact caused by excessive paving in front gardens.
Permaculture Garden
CAPEL MANOR GARDENS | ENFIELD
A modern, stylised interpretation of an ecological garden, promoting environmental awareness and the importance of sustainability in gardens, focused on a style and planting re-design. A concept for one of several permanent show garden installations set within 30-acre landscaped public gardens, sponsored by Provender Nurseries.
Sculpture Garden
CAPEL MANOR GARDENS | ENFIELD
A large informal garden concept with sustainable credentials for an art college, set within a wider 30-acre landscaped public garden. The re-design of this expansive space divides into several areas including a café terrace and a wildlife pond with ergonomic seating deck, all focused around a sweeping lawn edged with generous curved planting beds.
Ecological Dry Garden
CAPEL MANOR GARDENS | ENFIELD
A planting plan concept for a large disused exposed and sunny site with impoverished soil – the perfect conditions for a low-maintenance gravel garden. The design features a wide range of architectural grasses and drought-loving plants from around the world – inspired by plantswoman Beth Chatto, with all plants sourced from the Beth Chatto Nursery.
Civic Raised Bed
CROUCH END | LONDON
A planting plan concept for an irregular-shaped brick-built raised bed in a North London high street. Inspired by Cambridge Botanic Gardens & Anglesey Abbey Winter Gardens, this design rejuvenates the area by replacing the existing planting with a robust scheme with interest that extends to all seasons – most notably during winter. The planting is designed to be viewed from multiple angles and features a multi-stemmed Parrotia tree as the main focal point and features flowering evergreen shrubs, colourful winter-stems and grasses.
